Yeovil Reserves, folding six or seven of their Southern League side, including player-manager Paterson, were beaten 4-3 in a rousing tussle on Wednesday evening. This was a similar score by which Trowbridge won at Yeovil last November, when Bill Lovesey was badly injured. The visitors combined cleverly in the early stages and looked likely to get goals, but Trowbridge settled down, and led 3-0 at half-time. Dagg got the first when he chased the ball and just flicked it hard enough to enter the goal. The goalkeeper, Turner, raced back and cleared, but the linesman signalled that the ball had crossed the line. Five minutes later a faulty kick by a defender sent the ball to Abrahams, who scored with a splendid cross shot. Two minutes later, in a scrimmage following a centre from Webb, Grimason scored. |
