Scorers: Jack Dagg, Ron Webb

A remarkable second half goal by Ron Webb gave Trowbridge an exciting victory in the return match at Hardenhuish Park on Easter Monday. It came in this manner. Trowbridge had made a forward switch which found Webb weaving his way down the centre. He beat opponent after opponent, and then Boyd, the Chippenham centre-half, called to his colleagues to go forward, hoping to smash the move by offside. The move left at least two Trowbridge forwards well offside, but Webb had different ideas. He just continued his solo run to the penalty area, and as Bates came out, the winger calmly tapped the ball past him into the net.
Chippenham missed Dawson, injured at Portland on Saturday, and Titcombe was also an absentee through injury at Trowbridge. Saunders, reserve centre half, deputised for Dawson, and Harris captained the side. He was easily the best home forward, though Davies and Hamilton were not far behind. Trowbridge had Grimason and Hancock in the team, Sutherland moving back to full back. Early on Davies beat Vince, but the ball passed outside. Heavy rain made the ball and ground slippery, but Trowbridge were the more constructive. Boyd and Marchant defended splendidly. Dagg, against his former club mates, tried hard - too hard, one thought at times, because he missed good chances by over-eagerness. However, Jack succeeded eventually when he steered a pass from Haddon past Bates. Two minutes later Saunders equalised following good approach work bv Hamilton, the ball going in off Sutherland's foot.
