2 - 0
 Trowbridge Town

League (Wiltshire Football League Premier Division)
Tuesday, May 8th, 2001
3:00 PM Kick-off

Scorers: Paul Shanley, Chris Tricker

rowbridge became the first team to defeat Melksham Town Reserves on their own ground this season with a good team performance. They took an early lead in the 6th minute, Chris Tricker beating a defender and lobbing the goalkeeper who had committed himself far too early. They doubled their lead in the 15th minute, Andy Bloodworth, provided an excellent cross from the right wing to the far post and Paul Shanley, made no mistake with a powerful header. Melksham nearly pulled a goal back in the 40th minute but an effort from close range went just over the bar when it probably easier to score than miss.

In the second half, Melksham dominated by attacking but could not break down a confident Trowbridge defence. Bonser, Kirkpatrick and particularly Murden were all very solid. Melksham did create a clear chance after 70 minutes when a close range header from Bramley tested the reflexes of Chris Vaughan. With only 5 minutes remaining Chris Henry should have grabbed a third for Trowbridge. He received a good pass from Mark Conners, did really well to beat a defender but his shot went straight into the goalkeepers' arms.
