Warminster Town may be looking for a quick return to the Western League but they could not match the enthusiasm shown by a young Trowbridge Town side defending their unbeaten home record. The early part of the first half saw very little goalmouth action until a SteveWickens shot on 15 minutes that was off target. Ten minutes later the deadlock was nearly broken when a looping shot shot from Mark Conner was just kept out by Shuttlewood the Warminster goalkeeper. The first half lead came after 35 minutes. Some good play found Dave Percival or the right wing and Simon Kitchen met his cross to score from close range.

Trowbridge created an early chance in the second half when an excellent cross from Gavin Eyre was glanced towards goal by Steve Wickens. Shuttlewood was equal to it though and saved well. Warminster then had their best spell of the match and they put pressure on the home defence as they looked for the equaliser. Their best chance was after 75 minutes when a fierce shot struck the crossbar following a corner kick. After this let off, Trowbridge took control again, first Tim Waylen just failed to control the ball after beating the offside trap, then substitute Booker Woodford failed with a shot that went straight at Shutlewood when it looked as if he might have done better. He was however, not to be denied of his first goal for the first team. Some excellent work by Percival produced another fine save from Shuttlewood but Woodford pounced on the loose ball the slot the ball home for a deserved victory.
