Clanfield 85 2 Trowbridge Town 3
Despite languishing near the foot of the league table, Clanfield proved to be tough opposition. Trowbridge found themselves under pressure in the early stages and it was not too surprising when Clanfield took the lead after 18 minutes. A ball played through the centre was deflected into the path of James Montegue and he duly ran on and struck an unstoppable shot from 20 yards that beat Sheppard by his left hand post. Six minutes later the scores were level. A Clanfield defender headed the ball straight to Dave Percival and he made no mistake after running into the penalty area. With 33 minutes gone Chris Tricker provided a through ball which Dean Barker ran onto and finished nicely to make it 2-1. There were a couple more chances for Trowbridge before the break. Tricker shot wide after 33 minutes and Barker also went wide after 39.
Clanfield started well again in the second half and deservedly equalised after 50 minutes. Lee Cook finishing well from the edge of the penalty area. Adam Sheppard still not fully fit was replaced by Lewis Porter in goal and Dan Kovacs came on for Lee Wilson. Both sides could have scored the deciding goal. Porter made a good save in the 80th minute and Matt Brown cleared off the line following two Clanfield corners. With time running out and a draw looking likely, Trowbridge were awarded a free kick which when taken fell to Dean Barker. With a cool head, Barker tucked the ball away and stole the points to take Trowbridge 2nd in the table.
