Scorers: Ivor Compton, Dennis Hancock

Further misfortune befell Trowbridge in this match Dorchester on Monday evening. Soon after the second half had started Jimmy Sutherland, the popular "skipper." was in collision with a Dorchester player when both jumped to head the ball. Sutherland fell to the ground, and was taken to a doctor later, when fractured cheekbone was diagnosed. On Wednesday he was taken to Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, where he is expected remain about five days. Sutherland, who had been in great form until now, will not be fit again to play any more this season, big misfortune for his club in view of their attractive Festival of Britain games at Whitsuntide against Leytonstone and Bristol City. It will remembered that Andy McBlain, Sutherland's former team mate, sustained a broken jaw when playing for Trowbridge in a F. A. Cup-tie at Paulton. Sutherland and McBlain came to Trowbridge from Newport County. The former was to have started in employment with Messrs. Usher's on Tuesday of this week.
Although below strength, Trowbridge played well and delighted the home spectators with their clever positional play. Hancock gave them the lead after 20 minutes, and Dagg and Haddon went very dose with other praiseworthy efforts. Carter equalised for Dorchester before the Interval. Following Sutherland's retirement Trowbridge attacked, end Compton, playing on the right wing, scored with fine shot, but Dorchester retaliated in fine style end Carter equalised. George Vince made some good saves in this half.
