Scorers: Jim Grimason, Roy Hazell

This friendly game at Trowbridge on Easter Saturday provided 90 minutes of fast clever football in which Trowbridge got two snap goals to gain an exciting if rather lucky victory. The Fulham side showed remarkably good understanding, and shot with tremendous power on every possible occasion. Three times the goalposts stopped shots which had Vince completely beaten, and there were other occasions when the goalkeeper saved Trowbridge with his agility.
Trowbridge found Hazell an effective deputy for Harry Haddon (assisting the Western League Xl), and he was often prominent in Trowbridge attacks. After Dwight (centre-forward) had shot against the Trowbridge crossbar, left-back Reid headed a free kick by Webb off the goal-line. Hancock, for Trowbridge, and Johnston (Fulham) each netted, but offside nullified both goals. Chamberlain frequently beat Hulbert on the left wing, and once a terrific from the winger struck the angle of the goalposts. Vince, too, saved another drive of cannon-ball velocity from Chamberlain, and Trowbridge reached the interval luckily on level terms.
Quite early in the second half Dwight again had hard luck with another drive which hit the crossbar and went over. After half an hour Trowbridge made a sudden attack and from Webb's centre Greenland hit the ball, unhesitatingly past the Fulham goalkeeper. Three minutes later Hancock gave a nicely judged pass to Grimason, who look the ball in his stride and lifted into the left hand side net of the Fulham goal - a well taken opportunity. Trowbridge finished strongly and Greenland shot against a goalpost. The match was splendidly referred by Mr N. C. Taylor, the English League referee.
