Match Report

Swindon Town
0 - 1
 Trowbridge Town

Wiltshire Professional Cup/Shield (Final)
Monday, April 7th, 1952
Att. 6,745
3:00 PM Kick-off

Trowbridge Town had their first experience of playing under floodlights on Monday evening when they visited the County Ground, Swindon, in the final of the Wilts Professional Shield.
Swindon won by a goal to nil in a match which will be remembered for the magnificent display of the Trowbridge defence against Swindon's full third division side (with the exception of Onslow) which knocked Cardiff City and Stoke City out of the F.A. Cup this season.
The strange shadowy light was disconcerting at first and made it difficult to follow the flight of the ball at times.
The official attendance was 6,745, a ground record for a floodlit match at Swindon.
Sampson scored for Swindon 5 minutes from half-time.
Swindon Town team: Uprichard; Hunt, May: Kaye, Hudson, Gray; Lunn, Sampson, Owen, Betteridge and Bain.
