Glastonbury
1 - 1
 Trowbridge Town

League (Western League Division One)
Saturday, September 20th, 1952
3:00 PM Kick-off

Scorers: Cyril Dean

Trowbridge came near to creating a big Western League surprise, and if they had taken their chances the home side would have been deprived of both points. Denis Hancock, who received a nasty shake-up during the game, missed a glorious scoring chance. Taking the game as a whole, however, a draw was a very fair result, for the Trowbridge goal had quite a few fortunate escapes. The visitors owed much to the strength of their halves, Lovesey. Tuck, and Marshall. Ron Webb caused the home defence considerable trouble on the left wing.
Trowbridge went ahead in the first half, when centre-forward Allaway, formerly with Glastonbury, was fouled out on the right wing. A free-kick was awarded and Dean took it, his swerving shot deceiving the home goalkeeper. Glastonbury hit back with all they knew after this reverse, and Miles raced through and sent in grand shot which beat Vince all the way - but the ball rebounded from an upright and was cleared. Vince saved well from Jannis before Glastonbury equalised. A shot rebounded from the Trowbridge crossbar and Owen, fastening onto the ballm shot it into the net. There was jubilation from the home supporters, and then they saw the referee pointing to the penalty spot. Apparently a Trowbridge defender had handled the ball. Parsons gave Vince no chance from the spot.
In the second half Glastonbury looked though they would score time and time again but good defensive work, plus a little good fortune, saved Trowbridge. Then near the end Hancock had the chance of his life, but to everyone's surprise shot high and wide.
