Yeovil, who were challenging for the championship of the Southern League, S E Section, were very disappointing and in consequence Trowbridge almost grabbed both points. Yeovil took the lead after only six minutes but the Town were level again five minutes later through Mike Baker. Trowbridge never lost control of the game for very long afterwards. Missed chances and block shots then became regular as Trowbridge attacked but further goals did not materialise.
Johnny "milky" Davies who was a popular local player with the club was married during the morning but postponed his honeymoon until after the match.
