Trowbridge defeated Exeter City Res by 3-2 to maintain their improved results in the Southern League (S.E Section). Exeter proved a strong side and were far superior in midfield, but the Trowbridge forwards took their chances well. The winning goal was scored in the 67th minute and the Town were then involved in a gigantic struggle to maintain this lead. Exeter took the lead after 32 minutes but Trowbridge equalised just before half-time through a John Henderson penalty. The second half goals were scored by Mike Baker and Eddie Murphy.
Mike Gallagher, a centre half, signed from Weymouth during the week made his debut for the Town.
Trowbridge Team: May, Perret, Edwards, Alison, Gallagher, White, Thomas, Baker, Lambden, Henderson, Murphy.
The attendance of 1539 was described by the Wiltshire Times as 'Not Good Enough for a Southern League Match'.
