Match Report

Poole Town
1 - 2
 Trowbridge Town

Southern League Inter Zone
Wednesday, August 27th, 1958
3:00 PM Kick-off

Scorers: Ron Jackson

Trowbridge visited Pool in Southern League inter zone match for their first away match as a Southern League Club. Bob Connor, who was considered reserve goal-keeper and had obtained a place as Eddie Bird had broken a leg in a pre-season match, was the star for Trowbridge. Poole scored twice in the ten minutes before half-time and Roy Jackson scored the Town goal in the 55th minute. Although Poole looked the more enterprising side Trowbridge defended stubbornly and almost snatched an equaliser in the closing minutes. Trowbridge were without the services of Vic Lambden and Eddie Murphy who were both injured.
