Trowbridge lost at Frome Road by 1-0 and slipped to eighth position Crawley, the visitors, maintained their challenge due mainly to excellent goalkeeping by John Maggs, who was the stalwart for the club for many years.
The ground was declared playable just 30 mins before the game after heavy overnight frost, but both teams turned in good performance on the slippery surface.
The Crawley goal scored after 26 mins, and Trowbridge was unable to beat John Maggs after this no matter how hard they tried.
