Headington battle to earn stalemate. Trowbridge failed to breakdown a well organised Headington defence and therefore surrendered the top spot to Shrivenham. Trowbridge went close after 2 minutes, a good move that started in midfield led to a cross by Adam Nunn but Dave Percival was forced wide by a defender. Headington then forced a couple of corners which were dealt with comfortably by the home defence. Trowbridge nearly took the lead on 12 minutes with Nunn and Percival combining well but Nunn was thwarted by an excellent last ditch tackle to concede a corner. Headington threatened mainly from set pieces and following a corner, Luke Brandon shot over from just outside the penalty area. With 32 minutes gone, Adam Sheppard uncharacteristically let a corner slip though his hands but Lee Wilson cleared off the line to keep the score-line blank. Three minutes later, Ricky Trott headed a cross back across goal to Percival but his first time shot went over the crossbar. Trott also went close before the half time whistle with a flick type shot that went over the bar and a header that he couldn't quite get on target.
The second half was similar with Trowbridge playing quite well but failing to test Dan Bianchini, the Headington ‘keeper with any shots on target. A quick free kick by Adam Nunn picked out Gordon Saunderson after 51 minutes but despite timing his run perfectly, he guided his volley just wide of the post. Once again Headington threatened on the break to force three consecutive corners but the Trowbridge defence stood firm, Luke Smith in particular timing every interception to perfection and Adam Sheppard back to his usual good handling standards. Trowbridge had the best of the chances towards the end. Dan Lardner volleyed wide after 61 minutes, doing well to get on the end of a Waleed Bakali cross. Both sides however, may have stolen the points in the last 10 minutes. Adam Sheppard smothering the ball well at the feet of a Headington forward and then with only 3 minutes remaining the Headington wall had a job to do. Adan Nunn was brought down just outside the area and the subsequent free kick, taken by substitute Simon Kitchen was blocked.
