Trowbridge Town 4 Ross Town 2
Trowbridge put last weeks disappointing display at Hook Norton behind them by recovering from an early set back to win comfortably. Ross kicked off and scored within a minute, the ball was squared across the front of goal and Grey finished well with a low drive. The match then settled down to an even contest until the 12th minute when Dave Percival went on a powerful run on the right wing. Despite being fouled twice the referee allowed advantage and Percival stayed on his feet well to create the opportunity for Michael Barnes to claim the equaliser. Adam Sheppard had to be alert and save well on a couple of occasions before Trowbridge took the lead. With 36 minutes gone, A Dave Mitchell overhead kick flew into the net . Dave Percival nearly made it three with a header that went wide shortly after but it was Ross that squared the match just before half time. Adan Nunn conceded a penalty and Julian Addis tucked the ball away comfortably. Ten minutes into the second half, Trowbridge were awarded an indirect free kick following a back pass and Neil Kirkpatrick brought on Matt Cooper before the kick was taken. Adam Nunn took the short kick and Cooper, with his first touch forced the ball through the Ross defence to give Trowbridge the lead. Three minutes later Cooper made it 4-2 with a fine strike from 20 yards after beating one player in midfield. The two goal cushion allowed Trowbridge to relax and dominate the game although Ross on occasions threatened with some good counter attacks. Adam Sheppard was again in fine form for Trowbridge with a good save high to his right. Both teams also found themselves down to ten men with a player sent off following two separate incidents. An unfortunate ending to a match that was both competitive and sporting.
