From The Wiltshire League Web Site... The headlines this week belong to Trowbridge Town, the last team from the Corsham Print Wiltshire Senior League to win the Wiltshire FA’s Senior Cup, as they knocked Step 6 side Warminster Town from the Toolstation Western League out of this season’s competition thanks to two first half goals in front of a three-figure crowd at Woodmarsh. Ryan Baggs got them off to a good start converting a penalty early on before Jordan Gullis then extended the lead heading in from a corner from player-manager Jamie Jordan. It remained 2-0 at the break. Second half Warminster sought to get back in the game and midway through the half were awarded a penalty of their own. However, the spot kick was well saved by Trowbridge keeper Sam Jepson to maintain his sides two goal advantage. Trowbridge saw the game out and will now eagerly await the quarter final draw. At times this season Trowbridge Town have been inconsistent, but manager Jamie Jordan was delighted with his team today.
“It was a really good performance today, we have been either very good or very bad this season but performed how we should today and have knocked out one of the two favourites for the cup, it has been a really good day.”
