Managers Notes: Last Saturday we travelled to the champions, Kintbury Rangers, we started fast with Alex Pippard racing onto a through ball rounding the keeper and slotting home to give us the lead inside 2 minutes. The game was end to end as Kintbury looked for an equaliser and we looked for a second. Midway through the half Kintbury were reduced to 10 men following a nasty tackle on Jamie Strevens. We missed a great opportunity to put the game out of reach right before halftime when Jordan Gullis found himself one on one with the keeper who saved well. Kintbury started the second half quickly and following an avoidable foul on the edge of our area by Ben Howlett drew themselves level. This was followed by a good 20 minute period where they scored a further 2 goals. It would have been easy to fold but we grouped and took the game to our host and got ourselves back into it when Josh Hard converted from the spot. We had a great chance at the end but the game finished 3-2. The defeat was disappointing but not for the obvious reasons, we more than held our own against the best team in the league and for the first 45 minutes were the better team, so far this season we’ve showed we can compete with the best teams in this league but also grind out results when we have to, we’re moving in the right direction.
