Wiltshire Senior Cup (Final)
Saturday, March 12th, 1887
3:00 PM Kick-off

On Saturday the final contest between the Swindon and Trowbridge teams for the Wiltshire Association Challenge Cup took place the ground of the latter, in the presence of nearly a thousand spectators.
Swindon won the toss. The game was commenced in snowstorm, A. G. Stancomb starting the ball for Trowbridge. The play was very fast and even for a considerable time, when Trowbridge scored a goal amid considerable cheering. Subsequently Thomas, for Swindon, kicked the ball over the cross-bar and claimed a goal, but the umpires differed in opinion and the referee decided against Trowbridge, the decision meeting with a storm of disapprobation from the spectators. Swindon continued to have the best of the play; and the match thus ended in favour of the visiting team by two goals to one.

The teams were —Trowbridge: C. Bailey, goal; H. W. (captain) and A, Hum, backs ; Q. E. Snailum, F, V. Beaven, and K. E. White, half-backs ; L. W. Pearce and J. S. Hill, right wing; A. O. Stancomb, centre ; F. M. Willis and J. Randall, left wing. Swindon ; C. Humphries, goal; T. White (captain) and J. H, Offer, backs; S. 3. Thomas, 6. Everett and F. Gibbs, half-backs; R. L. Jones and H. Thomas, left wing; T. Bennett, centre; J. Thomas and R. T. Horiugtou, right wing. Mr. L.Waters (Devizes) was the referee.
