Match Report

Trowbridge Town
2 - 2
 Clandown

League (Western League Division One)
Wednesday, April 25th, 1951
3:00 PM Kick-off

Scorers: Harry Haddon, Dennis Hancock

Clandown were well worth the point they won from Trowbridge on Wednesday evening. As a team they were quicker on the ball, and shot with power and accuracy. Twice they led, but the Town earned a point by two fine individual efforts by Haddon and Denis Hancock. R. Dallimore gave a grand display on the visitors' left wing, and the goals he scored - both tremendous cross shots in the 43rd and 61st minutes - had Vince completely beaten. The score was 1-1 at half-time.
Haddon replying to Dallimore's goal with a remarkable shot. Newbury, the Clandown goalkeeper, went to gather the ball, which looked to have rolled behind for a goal-kick, fumbled it, and Haddon, close up, sent the ball across the goal from a most acute angle into the far side of the net. Hancock's equaliser in the second half was also a good one. He picked up a pass some 40 yards out, ran through on his own, and as Newbury came out to meet him he calmly glided the ball past him into the net. J. Welch and J. Sutherland were outstanding in the home defence, who were often hard pressed, but the forwards lacked shooting punch. Nuth, formerly of Trowbridge, played a strong game at centre-half for Clandown.
