 Trowbridge Town

League (Western League Division One)
Saturday, February 10th, 1951
3:00 PM Kick-off

Deprived of three of their strongest players. Tuck. Haddon and Abrahams, Trowbridge were at a big disadvantage at Cheltenham and were beaten 2-0 - a disappointment to their supporters who feel that the side are not without a chance of runners-up honours. It was a keen and interesting game, nevertheless, with Cheltenham holding the balance of play, and but for some really great goalkeeping by George Vince the margin of defeat must have been greater. Trowbridge's forwards were well in the picture at times, however, and Nicholls brought off a number of really smart saves. Cheltenham scored their first goal after 21 minutes, Bigart, an experimental centre-forward, being the marksman. Timms scored the second ten minutes from the end. Sutherland. Welch. Crook and Haycock were strong defenders for Trowbridge, and Dagg and Webb deserved better luck with several scoring efforts.
