Dorchester Town
2 - 2
 Trowbridge Town

League (Western League Division One)
Saturday, February 9th, 1952
3:00 PM Kick-off

Scorers: Jim Grimason, Harry Haddon

Trowbridge Town appreciated the well-laid-out Dorchester playing pitch, but not the over-exuberant tactics of many of their players, which resulted in injuries and generally spoilt the play. Trowbridge, who had won comfortably when the teams met at Trowbridge, showed effective combination, in which the cleverness of the halves. Lovesey. Tuck and Marshall, provided delightful soccer entertainment. Lovesey and Marshall initiated attack after attack, and held the Dorchester attacks in subjection in the first half. The noticeable weakness in the visitors' side was their indifferent finishing, for with belter shooting they must have established a strong lead by half-time instead of a solitary goal.
Grimason scored the first-half goal for Trowbridge. Dorchester enjoyed greater territorial advantage in the second half, and the Trowbridge defence withstood many gruelling raids. Dorchester's goal had a lucky escape when Nobbs, the home goalkeeper, dived to a fierce drive by Greenland and the ball struck him in the face, knocking him out. The ball was cleared. Both goals had narrow escapes after Carter had equalised for Dorchester. Player- Manager Haddon. who had hastened back from Chepstow, where he had been called to see his father, injured in an accident, put his side the lead again, but minutes from the end Harry Merritt (formerly with Trowbridge) equalised with good shot from a corner kick. Nobbs made a brilliant save from Hancock and probably saved his side point it. Ron Webb received a painful kick on the ankle, and Grimason also received some shake-ups, but carried on.
Trowbridge team: Vince; Hulbert, Sutherland: Lovesey. Tuck. Marshall; Haddon. Greenland, Grimason, Hancock, Webb
