After being two goals to the good at the interval Trowbridge were held to a draw at Clandown. Disappointing though the result was to the visiting team's supporters, it was, nevertheless, a good performance, for Clandown have defeated such strong opponents as Chippenham Town and Wells City on their ground this season. Trowbridge combined cleverly and were convincing in attack and defence. The first goal came when Nuth, Clandown's centre half, headed into his own goal when Webb shot*. After half an hour Denis Hancock. Trowbridge's county inside left, ran on to a pass from Webb and put Trowbridge two up. Clandown paid some close calls but were held until half-time.
In the second half Clandown, kicking down the slope, gave the Trowbridge defence a busy period, and Tuck, Sutherland and Welch made some splendid clearances. The first goal, however, was rather lucky, for Vince badly misjudged a long bouncing ball from F. Curtis - chance shot - which went into the net. It looked as though Tuck could easily have headed the ball away. Haddon and Hancock were dangerous raiders, and Vince made one of his best saves from F. Curtis. Clandown's equaliser came from a well-judged header by F. Curtis from Dallimore's centre. In the closing minutes Haddon completely bamboozled the home defence, cut in and when he appeared to have the goal his mercy centred to Grimason, who sent the ball into the net. The referee awarded a goal, but seeing that the linesman had flagged for offside, reversed his decision. From the touchline it looked a good goal, and most of the spectators were surprised that was nullified. In the Trowbridge team Jim Sutherland showed greatly improved form. Welch received nasty kick.
