League (Southern League - South Eastern Zone)

Att. 1,420
3:00 PM Kick-off

Scorers: John Henderson, Vic Lambden (3)

On a dismal rain and wind-swept pitch at Frome Road, Trowbridge defeated Bedford Town the leaders of the S.E. Section of the Southern League. This win also revived Trowbridge's chances of finishing in the top eleven of the league and entering Premier League status for the next season.
A brilliant early headed goal by Vic Lambden and superb goal-keeping by veteran George Vince, who was called out of retirement, were the highlights of this game. John Doughty also had an excellent game at centre-half and kept the Bedford dangerman, Len Duquemin (the ex-Spurs star) well under control.
Trowbridge had a 2-1 lead at half-time through Vic Lambden and a John Henderson penalty, and although Bedford equalised just after the interval, it was the 80th minute before the Town scored again, Vic Lambden scored two goals in the last 10 minutes and Bedford scored in the last minute.
The attendance was 1420.
