Match Report

Trowbridge Town
1 - 0
 Cambridge United

League (Southern League - South Eastern Zone)
Saturday, December 13th, 1958
Att. 1,471
3:00 PM Kick-off

Scorers: Michael Baker

A one nil win against Cambridge Utd lifted the Town to four places off the bottom and above their opponents. This was revenge for a 4-2 defeat at Cambridge earlier in the season.
The match was played on a saturated pitch and within a short time the players were slithering ankle deep in mud. Trowbridge should have won by a larger margin, many chances being missed specially by Vic Lambden. The only goal was scored by Mike Baker after 20 minutes.
Cambridge Utd were also competing in the Southern League for the first season. How times change, as they are now a proud Second Division club.

Report from a programme that was published 20 years later.
