Trowbridge beat Bath City for the first time ever in a Southern League match at Frome Road. The winning goal was scored in the 51st minute by Billy Horton and hundreds of Town fans stayed behind to give the Town a standing ovation as they left the field after an extremely hard-won but deserved victory.
Terry Evans put the Town in the lead after 17 minutes and Bath City equalised six minutes later. During the second half the Trowbridge defence soaked up a lot of pressure but Frank Shipley, Kenny King, Colin Tavener and Tony Albin were magnificent as the Town held out.
