The headlines in the local press were in praise of Archie Thorburn, He scored an equalising goal described by the late Frank Mortimer as 'as good a goal as you could see on any football field'. Trowbridge took the lead before half-time, the second goal being scored by Terry Evans, but Dartford came back strongly in the second half to take a point. The game was watched by 938, This was Trowbridge's fourth league game, the season having commenced as early as August 10th, and five points had been gained.
