With Trowbridge and Cricklade both on a run of good results a lot was expected of this Addkey Senior Cup tie. The players of both sides gave there all as they battled not just against each other but also to stay on their feet in the heavy conditions. The home side were the first to show as they mounted various attacks in the early stages. The first real chance came in the 14th minute when a corner sailed over the goalkeeper and Kirkpatrick nearly headed Trowbridge in front. Shortly afterwards a superb cross from Edwards allowed Little to head powerfully towards goal. This produced an excellent save from goalkeeper Steve Maggs, pushing the ball round for a corner. Cricklade then wasted a golden opportunity to take the lead, but they failed to hit the target with an almost open goal in sight. After 26 minutes, Trowbridge took the lead, Jerad O'Pray pouncing on a defensive error and calmly sliding the ball past Maggs.

In the second half Cricklade began to control the match by keeping possession and playing some good football. In the 66th minute it looked as though they had equalised when Chris Vaughan, the Trowbridge goalkeeper appeared to push a cross into the roof of the net. The 'goal' however, was disallowed because the assistant referee spotted an offside. With 15 minutes of normal time remaining, Cricklade gained their deserved equaliser, Mazzotta capitalising on a defensive mix up. Extra time saw Cricklade dominate possession and although Trowbridge had a couple of chances it was the home side that were the most relieved the hear the final whistle.
