Trowbridge gained just one point from their visit to Melksham but not for the want of trying. Mike Little played up front in place of Dave Mitchell and went close to scoring twice in the first half. The first was after 30 minutes when he met a Ricky Trott cross with a glancing header that went just over the bar. Melksham were awarded a free kick in the 38th minute that tested Adam Sheppard but he held on well at the second attempt after parrying the shot. Two minutes before the break, Trowbridge were awarded a free kick and when the ball fell to Mike Little his shot beat the ‘keeper but his shot rebounded from the right hand post and was cleared. In the second half, Melksham forced one corner but other than that, Trowbridge attacked throughout the period and went close on numerous occasions. Ricky Trott headed wide in the 54th minute. Dave Percival came on as substitute and forced the goalkeeper into a good save after 62 minutes, Mike Little again hit the post in the 64th minute with a good turn and shot and the goalkeeper saved again from Ricky Trott in the 75th minute. The chances still continued to come and go with Percival and Gavin Eyre both shooting wide. Trowbridge finally knew it just wasn't their night when a clear handball in the penalty area was ignored by the referee in the last five minutes.
