Trowbridge Town began their league campaign in style with an emphatic away win at Aldbourne. The early stages were evenly contested, Aldbourne with the first real chance after 19 minutes. Adam Sheppard denied the forward with a brave block at the front of the penalty area. Trowbridge then took control of the game, the breakthrough coming after 26 minutes. A cross from Waleed Bakali found Adam Nunn unmarked on the left and his fiercely struck half volley across goal deflected into the net. Nunn went close again after 33 minutes, this time being thwarted by Robinson the Aldbourne goalkeeper. Good interplay between Simon Kitchen and Dave Percival on the right then produced a chance, which Dave Mitchell finished tidily but he was unfortunately ruled offside. Aldbourne continued to try to play offside but Simon Kitchen timed a perfect run to gain possession and finish well to make it 2-0 at halftime. The second half was delayed slightly when the referee realised he had left the match ball in the dressing room, but when it did start, Trowbridge were totally in control Mike Little making it 3-0 after 66 minutes. He met an Adan Nunn free kick with a powerful header past the goalkeeper. Andy Bloodworth thought he had scored the 4th late in the game with a good run from just inside the Aldbourne half but the linesman had flagged him fractionally offside. |
