1st Team / Re: The next six months?

Yes at the moment, we will be carrying on as 'normal'.
It is also going to be tough for clubs at our level as well. We are lucky that we can at least have paying spectators and I would like to thank all those that have come to our games so far. It is very much appreciated. I hope the additional admin/changes that have been made are not too onerous.

1st Team / The next six months?

Can we assume that, following yesterday's various announcements, football below level six can carry on as 'normal' with spectators? Track-and-trace obviously needs to be in place ... I do feel for clubs in levels 3-6.  It is going to be tough.  Take Dagenham & Redbridge on Radio 5 this morning.  No revenue but players and buses to away games and ground upkeep to fund.  The Chair sounded very despondent and thought that as many as 50% of the clubs at that level could fold by Xmas.

The latest edition of the WT claims that 'Sport is Back'.  This is the paper that covers the five towns - Trowbridge, Melksham, Westbury .... anyway I have lost count.  There is ONE page of sport and it is Swindon Town.  Now is THE time to send in copy to papers because they are desperate for copy ... I promise you from personal experience.   If somebody sent in a match report with images then I guarantee - provided that the spelling, punctuation and grammar were ok - the club would get some publicity.

Nought has changed (for now!), to quote the department for culture, media & sport;

“Outdoor footy is to continue as before with spectators (at non-Lge step 3 & below)”

So #UTB can keep calm & carry on 🙂 , how long before Boris & his motley crew keep that promise however, is anyone’s guess! I’ve seen matches at level 7 & 8 so far, attracting twixt 30 & 50 fans. No problems with keeping 2m apart, so allowing folk to utilise their own common sense seems reasonable.

Now if you happen to have flown back from Portugal, play for another local team & frequented a local hostelry recently, that’ll be a completely different matter!

But from Monday it's only six .... the joy of six!!  Sports teams can still meet and play but what about spectators??  Given TTFC only attract maybe 48 fans, maybe eight clusters of six socially distanced around the ground???  I am of above average intelligence, qualify for MENSA but honestly have no idea what is going on.
